- 3
Apply or download
Apply the result to the editor (undo is available), copy it, or download the optimized file.
What the SVG optimizer removes
Design tools write a lot of markup that browsers never use. The optimizer strips it while keeping the image identical:
- Editor metadata, comments, and Illustrator, Inkscape or Sketch namespaces
- Hidden and empty elements, unused
defsand redundant groups - Extra decimal places in coordinates, controlled by the precision slider
- Long path commands, rewritten in a shorter equivalent form
- Default attribute values and duplicate styles
Why optimize SVG files?
Smaller SVGs load faster, which helps Core Web Vitals, and matter most for inline SVG in HTML, icon sprites and React components, where every byte ships in your JavaScript bundle. Cleaner markup is also easier to read, recolor and animate.
Check the gzip size as well as the raw size: that's closer to what your server actually sends.

Frequently asked questions
How much smaller will my SVG get?
Files exported from design tools often shrink by 30–80%, because SVGO removes metadata, comments, hidden elements and extra decimal places. The exact savings appear before you apply anything.
Will optimizing change how my SVG looks?
The default settings are safe for most files. If you lower precision a lot, compare the before and after previews. Turn on "Keep IDs" if your CSS or JavaScript targets element IDs.
What is SVGO?
SVGO is the most widely used open-source SVG optimizer. viewsvg runs it in your browser, so your files never leave your device.
Are my SVG files uploaded anywhere?
No. viewsvg runs entirely in your browser. Files are read, rendered, optimized and converted on your device, and nothing is sent to a server. After the first visit it even works offline.
Is viewsvg free?
Yes. Every feature is free with no sign-up, no watermarks and no file limits.
